Your guide Wayan meets you at your Sanur hotel lobby in a private air-conditioned vehicle. North Bali sits at higher elevation across the central volcanic ridge, so the morning starts with a climb through the mountain pass toward Lake Beratan. You will stop first at Pura Ulun Danu Beratan, the sixteenth-century water temple dedicated to the lake goddess Dewi Danu, where morning mist often sits across the water.
From the lake, you head over the ridge toward the northern slope. Depending on what you prefer to see, your route can take in the twin crater lakes of Tamblingan and Buyan, the multi-tiered forest cascades at Banyumala Twin Waterfalls, or the quiet Buddhist monastery of Brahma Vihara Arama near Banjar. Wayan handles the driving, parking, and temple sarong etiquette, leaving you free to choose how long you spend at each stop.
Around midday, you stop for lunch at a local warung overlooking the hillside cloves and coffee plantations, sampling regional dishes like smoked chicken or fresh lake fish. In the afternoon, you can add an easy walk through the giant ferns of Munduk or stop by the roadside monkey colonies along the pass before making the steady drive back south to Sanur in time for dinner.
