Most temple visits are a photo stop. This one is not. Kadek takes you to Pura Blanjong at first light, when the neighbourhood banjar comes to pray and the pillar with Bali's oldest inscription is still cool to the touch.
She fits your sarong and sash properly, shows you how to hold the incense and the flower, and explains what each of the five prayers is for. You sit at the back and take part only as much as you want to — many guests just watch, and that is completely normal.
Afterwards you walk to a warung on Jalan Danau Poso for bubur injin and Bali coffee while Kadek answers the questions everyone has but nobody asks: what the black-and-white cloth means, why there are offerings on the pavement, who pays for all of this.
